The United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) consists of three steps with four exams designed to assess physician's ability to apply a broad spectrum of knowledge, concepts and evaluate basic patient-centered skills.

Securing a Residency
Most Hospitals select residency candidates from applicants who participate in the "Match". This electronic system of matching candidates to residency training positions allows you to interview and rank preference,while simultaneously allowing the hospitals to tank those they have interviewed. The preference lists are merged by computer at the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP, www,nrmp.org). Results are announced annually in March.
